They make quite an appearance in the newly released film “The Great Gatsby”.
The 1920s fever is in full force and it’s full of glitz and glamour. If you’re a fan of the book, the movie does it justice with Leonardo DiCaprio never failing to impress but it goes deeper than just the phenomenal acting with its high budget productions.
For example, the costumes are a product of joint effort of Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada (Prada and Miu Miu). Together, they created a collection of more than 40 unique Miu Miu and Prada cocktail and evening dresses. Each of the dresses was evidently inspired by the “roaring 20s” era, making them as historically accurate as possible with a hint of modern edge. The pieces are full of dyed fur, silk, crystals, sequins, fringe and velvet; making it hard to look away from the screen.
Let’s also not forget about the sparkles and the jewelry that was provided by Tiffany & Co – a natural fit. Using the jewelry synonymous with wealth and privilege, the leading lady Daisy is almost always wrapped in Tiffany & Co whether it is necklaces, pearls, hand ornaments or diamond rings.
As for the gentlemen, it is Brookes Brothers, one of the few to have actually been there for the 1920s era, have created over 500 outfits including tuxedos, tailored suits, shirts, ties, shoes and accessories for the dapper gentlemen.
Last but not least, the glasses in the movie are always filled with MOËT & CHANDON, paying a sparkling tribute to the Great Gatsby. It is Moët & Chandon that believes celebration is an essential part of life, making it a really great match since the brand has always been synonymous with the glamour and grandeur of cinema.
As a matter of fact, some of these luxury brands not only created pieces for the film but also launched product lines inspired by it. For example, Brooks Brothers offers,The Gatsby Collection, a series of 1920s-inspired looks including burgundy Regatta blazers, pastel-pink linen suits, shawl-collar cardigans and tattersall vests priced from $198-$698. Similarly, Tiffany & Co is offering Jazz Age Glamour collection bringing Daisy Buchanan to life. One of the collection pieces is The Great Gatsby Collection Savoy Headpiece priced at a humble $200, 000.
